Here’s answers to some of the questions we commonly hear – of course if you’d rather talk with someone in person, just give us a call.
Where exactly is the club located?
We are located at 30 Melanesia Road in Kohimarama. It’s down the same driveway as the tennis club, just turn right for bowls! If you’re walking from the beach, there’s a little walkway opposite the top of Neligan Avenue.
Does the club provide bowls for us to use?
Absolutely! While you’re playing for fun, or just getting started as a new member, you’re more than welcome to use our club bowls.
We would actually recommend this as opposed to rushing out and buying your own bowls and it will give you a chance to trial different bowls brands and sizes before purchasing a set of your own.
When can we turn up to try our hand at bowling?
The best time to give bowls a go is at our fun bowls nights. These take place every Wednesday at 5.45pm; it’s only $5 and if you would like to you can pay a little extra and order some fish and chips to enjoy with everyone after your game.
You’re also more than welcome to come along to our ‘roll-up’ events on a Thursday at 9.30am or Saturday at 12.30pm. There will be members on-site to show you around and set you up with the basics.
Once you become a member, you’ll be given access to the club so you can wander on down anytime (except when an event is on) to practice.
Does the club have coaching for new players? If so, when?
Yes! We’ve got plenty of skilled bowlers, including a number of qualified coaches, who are more than happy to give you some tips and help you improve your technique.
Get in touch with us and we’ll set you up with a coaching session at a time that suits.
Are there bar/meal facilities?
A kitchen is available for club hireage, and KBC has a bar license and registered bar managers to assist with your events. For our social and club competitions, the hospitality arrangements vary and the cash bar is available.
